CAVAS
A BOAT RIDE…
With our cavas
Invented by chance around 1693 by a French Benedictine monk, Dom Pierre Perignon, the birth of Champagne is one of those incredible tales as is the way it arrived to these latitudes and changed its name and grapes.
The vineyard, the landscape, the land and the climate are essential factors in the birth of Cava.
Cava has its origin in the wine-growing área of Penedés (Catalonia). However, there are other areas where cava is made, such as in Requena (Valencia), which for historical reasons have also applied the traditional or champenoise method for decades. Excellent sparkling wines are also made in other areas of Valencia, but no longer within the D.O Cava.
What we will be doing
We’ll take a boat ride on la Albufera lake at the magical hour while we taste 3 Valencian cavas or sparkling wines.
We’ll compare the aromas, the shine, the bubbles. We’ll talk about the wineries, varieties and characteristics of each cava, accompanied by typical sweets from the area, cheese and fruit.

Things to know
The tasting is a present for my partner, but I don’t drink. Are there alternatives to alcohol?
Yes, by notifying us in advance or indicating it when booking, we can substitute other drinks such as non-alcoholic beer, juices or soft drinks.
What happens if I have to cancel?
It depends on how far in advance you give notice.
If the cancellation occurs at least 72 hours in advance, you will receive a full refund. If you do it 48 hours before, the cancellation Will have a 30% charge. If it occurs 24 hours before or the same day, there Will be no refund.
In either of these last two cases, there is the possibility of receiving a voucher by email to attend a future activity or you can also transfer the reservation to a friend or family member, notifying in advance. This voucher is valid for 90 days.
It looks like it’s going to rain on the day of the tasting. What happens now?
Would it be possible, in addition to the tasting, to have lunch on the boat?
We only do the tastings and there is no food service, apart from the appetizers (cheese, sausages, preserves and “tapas” or fruit and sweets in the case of the Cava Tasting) that accompany the drinks.
However there is the possibility of hiring a separate catering service of your choice. You can also make reservations to eat at one of the many restaurants of El Palmar.
What clothing do you recommend?
Above all, comfortable shoes. If it is daytime, there’s no harm in wearing a cap or a hat to protect yourself from the sun.Depending on the time of year, bring enough warm clothing, since in the middle of the lake the temperature usually drops due to the breeze.
If it is summer, at dusk, we recommend bringing anti-mosquito lotion.
I don’t have my own vehicle. How can I get there from Valencia?
It is possible to get there by the bus from Valencia. The EMT (Municipal Transport Company) covers the route with Line 24.
Another way is to take a Taxi or Rental Vehicle with Driver.
Take into account the departure and return times and the duration of the journey to arrive on time for the scheduled departure.
For example, at weekends it is a very busy area with a lot os traffic.
What happens if I’m late?
Furthermore, if it is at dusk, it is the sunset that will not wait.
We are a group of Friends interested in booking a tasting. But the dates and times proposed in the calendar do not suit us. Could we do it another time?
Technically, there should be no problem. You will have to be at least 6 people, then get in touch with us to see if it is posible to hold the tasting on the date and the hour you propose.
AND ALSO…
Our Commitment to Sustainability.
We promote a circular economy by choosing local products and wines with organic certification or from small wineries that focus on sustainability, the recovery of vineyards, and forgotten native varieties.
Minimizing our impact on this unique habitat is part of our mission when offering these experiences in the Albufera Natural Park. It also means being able to convey our love for this beautiful area, to raise awareness of the need to protect this ecosystem and getting to know its fauna and flora.
